Praying for Las Vegas & Raising Levels of Awareness for All Venues

By Mark Herrera posted 10-02-2017 15:33

On behalf of The International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) our thoughts and prayers go out to the Victims, Families, Emergency Responders and all those affected by this senseless act of violence in Las Vegas.

IAVM and all associated members are completely aware of the risks and will continue to enhance emergency procedures and protocols to assure that those attending events have a sense of comfort in their safety and well-being.

Although we, including the Department of Homeland Security have no information to indicate a specific credible threat involving any other public venues or events in the country,  Increased security in and around public places and gatherings may be experienced as officials take additional precautions to ensure the safety of patrons.

We must look beyond physical security measures and all inherit the responsibility of remaining aware of our surroundings at all times.   If we see something, say something!

We are closely monitoring the situation and working with our venue professionals and the Department of Homeland Security to provide support and assistance as needed.

Please assure that our outdoor events maintain on high alert to include those venues we recognize as soft targets.    History shows that post a major attack, numerous "copycat" events follow.
