Nashville Municipal Auditorium Hosts Grand Ole Opry

By Kayla McKinley posted 07-06-2010 14:33

The Nashville Municipal Auditorium proudly welcomed Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner, Mandy Barnett, Trisha Yearwood, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson and The Band Perry to the Auditorium on June 8, 2010.

Due to severe flooding at the Opry House, the Grand Ole Opry was forced to relocate for the second time in its history. The Nashville Municipal Auditorium previously hosted the Opry on March 15, 1975, 35 years ago when the parking lot flooded.

Thanks for the update, Kayla. We, in Cedar Rapids, understand flooding. Our historic Paramount Theatre (opened in 1929) was devasted by the June 2008 flood and today, it still remains closed and can only be entered in full hazmat gear. We are hopeful that the Theatre will one day re-open as City officials work with VenuWorks staff to finalize funding and renovation plans with a newly appointed community committee.
