The HKCEC has just completed its most active and successful fiscal year of operations in the Centre's 21-year history. Operating revenues for FY 09-10 that ended this past 30 June exceeded HK$1 billion (US$ 130 million) for the first time, increasing 21% over last fiscal year. Operating revenues from all sources totalled HK$1,004,551,000 (US$130 million).
The Centre’s in-house F&B service made up 34% of that total. This result reflects the enormous demand that had accumulated for the 19,400 sum (209,000 sq.ft.) expansion which opened a little over a year ago. This expansion brought the total rentable space to 91,500 sqm (985,000 sq. ft.) The total number of events increased to 1,185, up from 1,076 in the previous fiscal year.
Operating revenues attributable to the Centre’s 110 exhibitions alone during the fiscal year reached in excess of HK$650 million (US$85 million).
Managing Director Cliff Wallace, CFE, said, “We are once again reminded of how fortunate we are in Hong Kong to have survived any serious impact from the global economic downturn. We continue to benefit from the HKCEC's extraordinary client base plus an experienced and enthusiastic staff which have achieved a 21-year history of successes within the Centre which continues to be a benchmark that venues strive for throughout Asia."
