Global Spectrum Promotes Shura Lindgren-Garnett, CFE, To Regional Vice President

Lindgren-Garnett will expand her current role as General Manager of the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles, MO, to oversee additional Global Spectrum-managed venues, beginning on Monday, August 2, at the conclusion of her current position as Chairman of the Board for IAAM, announced Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page.

“Shura is a well-established and highly respected leader of our industry,” said Page. “This is a well-deserved honor and we look forward to growing our company with Shura at the helm of many of our venues as a Regional Vice President.

“We will lean heavily on her convention center experience, as well as her industry resources and contacts to grow this end of our business.”

Lindgren-Garnett is a dedicated and committed IAAM member, having served the Association in several capacities, including Past Chair of the Convention Center Committee, Past Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee, Past Chair of the Annual Conference Committee, Past Chair of the Board of Education, Past Chair of the Diversification Committee, Vice President of District VI and past board member of the Board of Governors.

She was a recipient of the 2005 IAAM Presidential Citation for her work with the association and she earned her CFE in 2000. Shura is the sixth female to lead IAAM in its 86-year history. Shura’s work with the Diversification Committee focused on increasing the number of women and minorities in the field of public venue management.

Among her many industry accomplishments, Lindgren-Garnett opened the 154,000 sq. ft. St. Charles Convention Center in April of 2005 after overseeing all aspects of the 18 month construction. She began her career in public facility management in 1987 with the Amarillo Civic Center as an Event Coordinator. In 1988 she moved to Midland, Texas to assume the position of Director of the Midland Center and was later promoted to direct the combined operations of the Midland Center and the Midland Convention & Visitor Bureau. She was named Vice President of Visitor Development for the Midland (Texas) Chamber in 2002.

Lindgren-Garnett also serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Charles Chamber and is a past member of the Business Advisory Board of Lindenwood University in St. Charles. She and her staff, through the support of Global Spectrum, host and support three to five charitable events and activities throughout the year such as Youth In Need, Habitat for Humanity, Helping Hands for the Holidays and Adopt a Soldier. In 2007 and 2008 Lindgren-Garnett was nominated for a Dove Award given in recognition of outstanding female role models. In 2008 she received the Zonta Yellow Rose Award for her commitment to serving the community and advancing the status of women, and was named as one of Venues Today Women of Influence for 2008.

Lindgren-Garnett is married to Tim Garnett of Chesterfield, MO, and is the mother of Tiffany Glover, step-mother of Tim Jr., Crystal and Austin Garnett, and grandmother of two.
