Flooding in Ames, IA

Iowa and our venues are getting hit again with devasting floods.  This time it is Ames, IA and you can see by this video post http://www.cyclones.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?catid=0&id=718487 that Hilton Coliseum, home to the Iowa State Cyclones, has been damaged once again by waters pouring out of the Skunk River.  According to news reports, the flood waters have not yet crested.

Our VenuWorks corporate office is not in a flooded area though most of our employees were unable to find an unflooded route in to work.  We consider ourselves fortunate and at this time none of our employees have been personally affected by the flooding in their homes.

This flooding follows just two years after the Cedar River crested in Cedar Rapids, IA at 20 feet above flood level in June 2008 damaging these entertainment venues, the historic Paramount Theatre, the U.S. Cellular Center and Theatre Cedar Rapids.  The U.S. Cellular Center and Theatre Cedar Rapids have re-opened.  The Paramount Theatre still sits closed awaiting a final decision on its future.
